Submission deadline!
Why does the home page close submissions at 12 AM EST on Friday, 1/6/12, but the "how to enter" rules say the deadline is MIDNIGHT, on Friday, 1/6/12?? Where did the "submission" button go? Can I still submit from PST zone?

Hi Marianne,
I've reset the submission button for the correct time, so you should be able to enter until midnight tonight 1/6/2012, though I think it will only be until midnight EST.
Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks Mary. Went through the "enter submission" form, I think, but it never asked me for my age or other info. I think I submitted my poem correctly. Can you confirm?

I agree that it is not easy to see where I am supposed to put my age and other info. Help anyone?

Thanks so much for your feedback. There is not a specific field for you to put in each individual piece of information, so we are asking that you just include your age, the category, and the Documerica photo info in the Description field.
If I don't see the information needed right away, I will send a message to the submitter asking you to include it.
Sorry for the confusion about the submission page!

Hi, my name is Mr. Peter Aldan and I am a high school art teacher in Saipan. I just recently came across this contest, unfortunately, after the deadline. I was wondering if there was a way to subscribe or be notified of other contests of this sort in the future. I would love to expose my students to contests like these, and am very grateful there are organizations out there that create this and allow students to be a part of. The idea of using technology to bring diverse students together to share global issues and concerns as well as awareness to the diversity amongst us is amazing.
Sincerely,
Mr. Aldan

I hope you do this contest next year, or even maybe a second one this year (2012) I just stumbled on this challenge (having just found the Discover Challenge website today, and I have a bunch of teen mothers in a group home who would have LOVED to have participated in this challenge. What a great way to get them thinking about their environment when most of them have never been able to think past their own and their baby's survival for the next 24 hours? Please consider doing this again.

Hi Peter and Maureen,
Thank you so much for your interest in the Document Your Environment Contest! We have really loved all of the entries we received, and are considering running the contest again. In the meantime, we would still like to encourage participation in the Environmental Protection Agency's ongoing project called State of the Environment. This project is considered a crowd-sourced version of Documerica, and asks people to upload their photos into an open Flickr group.
You can read more about the project at the Epplocations blog (http://blog.epa.gov/epplocations/), and also see some of the photo challenges that are inspired by Documerica. You can also check out the State of the Environment Flickr group (http://www.flickr.com/groups/1667216@N23/) to see the great photos that people have already submitted.
If you're interested in more contests from the National Archives, or want to be involved in some other way with us, take a look at our Citizen Archivist Dashboard (http://www.archives.gov/citizen-archivist/). Thanks again for your interest!
Best,
Mary

How will we find out who the winners are?
